I never had any trouble with speed of the site. Sometimes I have packet loss, but that is a trivial thing to remedy. F5 fixes it 99% of the time, and when it does not the first time, it is again fixed by refreshing the request.

I love this site.

Note that for some odd reason I thought SSL was still broken here. HTTPS Everywhere does not include this site by default. But if you just manually add http:// instead of http:// to your bookmark it will always work.

Note that PRISM logs every encrypted connection you ever make anywhere, so this has a negative, but it is trivial compared to being wide open for the five years they log everything else anyway. (And that five year limit only applies to Americans. They keep everything they log for anyone who is not in America.)

I'd check your PSU, rigs with more that 6 SATA devices can be touchy. Even though a lot of PSUs come with 12 SATA plugs, the voltage just isn't there. Had a buddy lose multiple drives from this fact, and got into a heated pissing match with Corsair.

- Again spent hours crawling through the database identifying and purging dubbed releases. The current blacklist contains over 100 strings to identify these. It's becoming pretty troublesome to identify the last remaining few without at least taking out some proper ones. Going forward I think it's better if we stop purging these releases but instead implement a (multi) language property for every release. Thinking we should have filters as well configurable from your profile. I'm definitely feeling it here ;-) Let's do it!

Hi,

What was the outcome of the disk upgrade, get it sorted ?
OptimusPrime - admin

Very frustrated... Started moving data to the new drive and it crapped out every single time. It's the third SSD which has started doing this now...
As a last resort I have been upgrading firmwares. The SSD got upgraded using a windows live cd, I upgraded the BIOS using a dos boot disk, all remotely using IPMI, that was a bit of fun ;-)
After many hours the SSD was still crapping out. I have put in a request with a datacenter tech to replace the SATA cable. Waiting on this now.

Have you ever thought about making the main page just a login page, forcing anyone who wants to browse to login.

This might reduce the server load a bit by only allowing members to browse, might also increase the number of BFF's once they login and see the full site.

Feel for ya matey, nightmare, even worse having to do it remotely, disc errors are a royal pain in the hole at the best of times.
If it is the drives, with 3 crappy ones I certainly wouldn’t walk under any ladders if I were you lol !!
Has your rig got a separate SATA controller maybe that needs an update ? My box here is SCSI and that has a separate board that handles everything disc...

Must have been a big bottle neck somewhere to notice a speed improvement, maybe a patch to a chipset bug or design issue, always a nice surprise though..

Good luck with the rest of it !!!

Admin, I'm not sure the file size filter is working. There's a whole load of 0.30MB items litsed in the 0day section today and they must be fake/virus given what they are supposed to be.
Is there any way to have the vote or report buttons on the listing? When there's mmore than 1 or two items that need reporting it would be much easier to select them all and report them together.

Since space is running out so fast, you may want to get rid of audio previews from a lot longer back. Or change your goal for the service.

I am not much for audio in general, and have never used a preview once. I would aim at 1095 days as a better start. Who is really going to use the previews after three years anyway? (Yes, please do speak up if you would. Tell us how you use the site so our admin is armed to maintain it best.)

IMO classy redesign, very cool. A major thanks for all the work you've put into this place (= my favorite nzb search site).

But... ;) I'd like ask a question and to make a comment.

1st, the question: in the TV series section, the "Only shows aired within the last week" choice seems to have disappeared. Since I'm currently watching about 6 shows, that feature allowed me to quickly eliminate the re-ups. It also allowed me to see which of my "older" shows have started up again. Any plans to bring that back?

Now, the comment: whenever I increase the display size for a page beyond a certain point (>150%), the top of the page starts disappearing. Not horrible, but not great either. Bug? Feature? :D

Really missing the "shows aired within the last week" under TV series.

Was one of the features I liked abut this site

The light theme is not really ready for prime time I think. Not working well. Went back to the green on black for now until they can get the light style sorted. I think I feel a seizure coming on.

No new posts or any kind of updates for almost 2 months… I guess the site is down for good? If the site operator is having difficulty financially supporting this site, I recommend changing the donation method to a yearly donation requirement instead of a one-time payment. Then you will see money coming in a lot more frequently

1 time donation is common for this site type. Most people have probably found alts by now, they certainly wouldn't come back to donate again. Move on and support a site that cares :)

I for sure would come back to donate again to stay BFF with admin of this site, this has been THE site for newsgroups for a couple of years, absolutely beats every other site out of the water untill admin disappeared for a bit, i am sure there's a good reason for it tho, as he has always been very good at supporting the site. Still hoping it comes back in full function again, as other sites like newztown etc. is junk compared to this, not listing half of groups, especially for foreign releases. look newztown dk.binaer.film, never refreshed, it contains tons of danish scene stuff, this site scraped every single group with content of any value pretty much within a few minutes of anything getting uploaded, anyone who have ran a newznab site knows how much cpu and bandwidth that requires to do what this site has done, and which is also why every other site is selective in which groups to scrape etc. because they can't do it properly.

@kuurus: not true....if admin commits to this site and asks renew of donations at reasonable times, the members will acknowledge too accordingly . Lets make it a win-win situation for everyone.

I would absolutely donate again but with one condition - the site admin assigns site helpers to keep the site up and running. The forum posts suggest we have a lot of tech savvy members who are willing to help, please accept the help. This is a great site and I hope it keeps going.

I'm with kally5. If that condition (assigned helpers) is met and committed to I'll happily donate again.

I would be willing to contribute again as this site has been excellent for years. The idea that kally5 and dingeldu put forward is good, however, obtaining the right helpers may be problematic..

It appears something happened. My SABnzb suddenly got inundated by my Crawler's RSS feed, downloading loads of stuff that had been missed while site was down/not working. Search is working for me too now.

Are we back in business?

I emailed the admin with a suggestion:
1) Distributed processing of the indexing.
2) Cloud based master database
3) All databases sync every 15 minutes
4) Website uses Master Database to generate NZBs to all indexing sites
5) load balancing across all nodes.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

That's quite a chunk for one person probably doing this in spare-time mode. T can't say about the tech part, but I think $10 each 3 months would bring folks much joy.

Seems to be a slow-down again. Virtually no movies added in 15 hours. Do not want to be pessimistic. Still hoping.

You can buy a dead horse a new saddle and brush its horsey hair but in the end, all you got is still a dead horse.

A close match name (not exact, last name was shortened) to who is listed on this domain, has an obituary for June 20, 2015. Not gonna try to link it but its not that hard to find. Just a theory for those horse beaters :)
